SCALES takes the privacy of our users as a serious responsibility. SCALES will never sell your data or share your information without your express permission.

SCALES does maintain some information about SCALES Data Explorer users to make it easier to help you when you have questions and to understand how many users are using the data explorer. In order to register for the SCALES DATA Explorer, you must sign-up with a valid email address. SCALES will not use this email address to sign you up for SCALES newsletters or materials without your permission. However, we may send user experience surveys to registered email addresses to get a better sense of how the data explorer can continue to be improved. We may use aggregated information about the use of the SCALES Data Explorer with third parties, but your individual information will not be identifiable.

Use of the SCALES Data Explorer also requires you to password protect your account. It is the responsibility of the data user to generate strong and memorable passwords to protect your account.

SCALES corresponds with interested parties through our newsletter and other communications. SCALES requires express opt-in for newsletter communications and makes no efforts to connect the users of the SCALES Data Explorer to emails used to register for the SCALES newsletter.

SCALES will retain your information (like your Data Explorer account) while you are using the data explorer and for a reasonable time thereafter. SCALES reserves the right to to remove long-abandoned accounts, though new accounts can be created by users.

We rely on third party services (PayPal) for donations. PayPal and companies and organizations like them are required to limit the use of the information we share only to perform services on our behalf and they must take reasonable measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information.

We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, when we in good faith believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights.
